Spanish on your Lock Screen
Privacy PolicyDaily Español keeps your learning data on your device. The only data that ever leaves it is a limited set of device identifiers used to measure our own advertising — and only if you allow tracking.
What we collect
Daily Español has no accounts, no sign-in, and does not connect to any server of ours. Your learning activity is never uploaded. The one exception to "nothing leaves your device" is advertising measurement, described below.
Advertising measurement (Meta SDK)
We promote Daily Español with ads on Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram). To know whether those ads work, the app includes the Meta (Facebook) SDK, which may send device identifiers — such as the advertising identifier (IDFA) — and basic app events (for example, that the app was installed or opened, or that a subscription started) to Meta for ad attribution and measurement.
- Your choice: on first launch, iOS asks whether to allow tracking (App Tracking Transparency). If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", the IDFA is not shared and Meta receives only aggregate, privacy-preserving attribution via Apple's SKAdNetwork.
- What is never shared: your learning progress, streaks, studied words, and settings never leave your device. We do not sell data, and we share nothing beyond what is needed to measure our own ads.
- Meta's role: data sent to Meta is processed under Meta's Privacy Policy. You can change your choice anytime in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
Your progress
Your learning progress — studied words, streaks, daily queue, and settings — is stored only on your device (and, for the widget, in a private app group shared between the app and its Lock Screen widget). It is never uploaded to us or anyone else.
Audio
Word pronunciation is generated on your device by Apple's built-in text-to-speech. No audio is recorded, and nothing is sent off the device.
In-app purchase
Any subscription is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Daily Español never receives your payment details, and no purchase data is sent to us.
Content & attribution
The Spanish vocabulary, examples, and frequency data are derived from open datasets (including Wiktionary and Tatoeba) under their respective open licenses. This content ships inside the app; using it does not involve any tracking of you.
Children
Daily Español shows no ads inside the app and contains no user-generated content. It is rated 12+ only because its Spanish dictionary includes a few mild vulgar words.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
