Terms of Service
Welcome to Danci Danyu. These terms apply to your downloading, installing, and using of the Danci Danyu iOS app ("the App"). Please read them carefully. By using the App you agree to all of the terms below.
1. License to use
The App is provided "as-is" for personal, non-commercial use. Subject to these terms, you are granted a non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to install and use the App on iOS devices that comply with the Apple App Store agreement.
2. Subscription service
- "AI Learning Assistant" is an optional monthly auto-renewing subscription priced at CN¥9.9 / month in mainland China (the final price shown in the App Store prevails).
- In Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, the price differs from mainland China; the price shown on the App Store for your region prevails.
- The subscription is charged to your Apple ID account upon confirmation of purchase.
- It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- The renewal charge is taken by Apple within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel the subscription at any time under iOS "Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions". After cancelling, you keep access until the end of the paid period.
- Fees already paid for the current subscription period are non-refundable in part.
- If you choose to use the AI features with your own DeepSeek API key, no charge applies.
3. User conduct
You agree not to:
- reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App (except where expressly permitted by law);
- use the App for any illegal activity, anything contrary to public order and morals, or anything that infringes others' rights;
- send illegal content, content contrary to public morals, content promoting violence or terrorism, disinformation, or other inappropriate content through the AI study chat;
- abuse the App's interfaces or circumvent the subscription-check mechanism.
We reserve the right to terminate your license to use the App if a violation is found.
4. AI content disclaimer
Content generated by the AI Learning Assistant (word explanations, etymology, mnemonics, chat replies, etc.) is produced in real time by the third-party large language model DeepSeek and may contain errors or be inaccurate or incomplete. We make no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of AI output. Please use your own judgment, and for important matters rely on authoritative references or professional advice.
5. Ownership of content
The intellectual property in the App's code, interface design, original text, and artwork belongs to the developer. Dictionary data (ECDICT / Webster's 1913 / Wiktionary) comes from the corresponding open-source projects and is governed by their original licenses. The App's "Acknowledgements" page lists all third-party data sources and their licenses.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to: data loss, loss of learning progress, device failure, or interruptions or errors of third-party services (such as DeepSeek or the Apple App Store).
7. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes to these terms, we will notify you before they take effect through an in-app notice or a prominent notice on this page. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
8. Governing law and disputes
The interpretation, validity, and dispute resolution of these terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China. Any dispute should first be resolved through friendly negotiation; failing that, it may be submitted to a competent court at the developer's location.
